We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs Teacher or ECT to join our Outstanding team at Yewstock School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including severe, moderate or complex learning needs. They will need to have a sound understanding of pedagogy and knowledge of teaching literacy and numeracy skills, as well as being confident to support learners with a wide range of abilities. Requirements: A qualification in teaching (QTS or QTLS with SET membership) with an ability to work with children and young people with learning difficulties and/or social communication difficulties. An interest in developing curriculum including leading a subject area. Able to teach students with a diagnosis of autism and other complex needs. Sound understanding of pedagogy and knowledge of teaching literacy and numeracy skills. Competent and effective classroom practitioner with the ability and confidence to lead a team of Teaching Assistants within the classroom. Keeping Children Safe in Education Yewstock School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern. Our pupils follow curricular based on the engagement scale, a semi-formal programme, a formal programme and individual targets from their EHCPs. Pupils work up to entry level 3.
