Are you an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a passion for product design and electrical integration? This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of battery technology, developing high-performance products for a rapidly growing industry. Based in Cambridgeshire, UK, this role offers a hybrid working environment and the chance to shape the future of electrification.
Key Responsibilities
1. You will lead the design of mechanical components and assemblies, ensuring seamless integration with electrical systems such as PCBs, low-voltage wiring, high-voltage conductors, and battery technologies.
2. Using 3D CAD software, you will develop low-cost, high-volume components, applying Design for Manufacturing (DfM) principles across sheet metal, plastic molding, extrusions, castings, welding, and CNC machining.
3. You will conduct tolerance stacks, thermal analysis, and structural CAE modeling, working with MATLAB, FEA, and CFD tools to optimise designs.
4. Produce detailed engineering drawings, manage design releases through PLM software, and drive mechanical design FMEA and validation test procedures.
5. Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality component sourcing and timely delivery, supporting prototype builds and assembly processes.
Key Requirements
1. We are looking for a strong mechanical design engineer with expertise in integrating electrical components.
2. You should have DfM experience across a variety of manufacturing processes and be proficient in mechanical analysis, regulatory requirements, and engineering tools.
3. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to mentoring junior engineers.
