Senior Mechanical Engineer Location: Exeter (Hybrid Working Available) We are working with a client who is looking to strengthen their engineering team with a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled engineer to take on a key role within a dynamic team. Role Overview: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Principal Engineer. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-quality engineering design services that minimise risks and maximise profits across turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will play a key role in coordinating design activities and producing design documents and drawings, ensuring full compliance with health and safety requirements, as well as relevant specifications and standards. Key Responsibilities: - Produce cost-effective design layouts that align with contract specifications and can be efficiently constructed and commissioned. - Ensure the application of standard practices wherever possible. - Provide estimates and feedback to the proposals department. - Follow established procedures to support the continuous development of the engineering department. - Review and monitor procedures and processes to improve efficiency. - Write, update, and track procedures to ensure smooth departmental operations. - Collaborate with other disciplines (internal and external) to ensure design processes are well-coordinated and benefit the overall project. - Foster a customer-centric approach, recognizing the importance of satisfying both external and internal stakeholders. - Take environmental considerations into account during the design process. - Ensure all designs adhere to relevant health and safety regulations. About You: Essential: - Degree in Mechanical Engineering with significant practical design experience (ideally 8-10 years for Senior level) in a similar field. - Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles. - Ability to rationalise designs and create cost-effective plant layouts. - A flexible mindset, capable of assimilating large amounts of information and applying it effectively. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical proposals confidently. - Proficiency in relevant computer software.
