The Opportunity
Use your supportability experience and determination to influence and advise the various business functions, engineering, project managers, bid teams, services and portfolio managers, and sales by promoting and implementing IPS activities. In addition, supporting the projects by identifying and managing IPS risks.
Primary activities include:
1. To carry out new and in-service product and system supportability analysis.
2. To provide high levels of confidence in our capability to meet the internal and external customer ILS support requirements.
3. To sustainably grow the service and support function within the business in line with the Head of Customer Support Services direction.
4. To provide portfolio managers, Campaign managers and BU leadership with IPS insights and inputs to both future and current customer supportability requirements.
5. To support the engineering functions in carrying out new and in-service products and system supportability analysis.
6. To keep the Portfolio and project managers informed of relevant risks, issues and progress of the IPS functions, escalating appropriate matters for resolution.
Key Responsibilities
7. Deliver the IPS service support offering across key business functions (portfolio, project management, engineering and manufacturing) to ensure they meet whole life cost targets ensuring project / service profitability.
8. Determine, develop and delivery of project IPS strategies, plans and reports in conjunction with the relevant service and project deliverables. Includes IPS elements planning, LSA tailoring, in-service support planning and logs demo’s.
9. Work with engineering, production and supply chain to provide both product and system supportability reporting and assurance, through the application of the relevant ARM&T principles.
10. Own and manage the Service and support IPS responses to Customer Requests for Proposal (RFP), Invitations to Tender (ITT), Statements of Work (SoW), Tender Assessments and Contract Specifications.
11. Support business growth as an IPS SME for bids, partnering agreements including planning, pre-contract discussions, product development, project IPS meetings & reviews.
12. Support engineering in the production of FMECA’s, RBD’s and MTBF generation.
Education and Qualifications
13. Degree or HND/HNC qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering or with relevant experience in the Defence Industry
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
14. Experience contributing to bid responses, understanding customer requirements, estimating costs, and providing bid content such as ILS/IPS plans
15. Experience in the service support of low volume, high value, products and systems in a highly regulated environment
16. Knowledge and experience of the application of through-life support standards such as DEF STAN 00-600, 00-40, 00-42, Mil Std 217F and KiD
17. Experience in working with customers in a matrix managed team
18. Good knowledge of MOD support frameworks and experience in their application as a supplier
Where will you be based?
19. Your work will typically be working from Woking (or Romsey), with occasional travel to customer sites. International travel may be required on an infrequent basis (up to 2 times a year).
