Do you have a strong understanding of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles?
We invite you to apply to join our Investment Committee as a member with a focus on ESG.
About Us: The Representative Body of the Church in Wales is one of Wales’s largest charities and is committed to making a positive impact through prudent financial stewardship and responsible investment practices. We manage a significant portfolio of investment assets, and we place ESG considerations at the heart of our decision-making processes about them.
Role Overview: As a member on our Investment Committee, you will play a key role in overseeing and guiding the organisation’s investment strategy. You will bring your expertise in ESG to ensure that our investment decisions align with our values and contribute to sustainable and socially responsible outcomes.
You will help strengthen the ESG oversight of our investments and the comprehensiveness of our reporting and accountability to the wider Church in Wales. You will also help us respond to questions and challenges about ESG strategy and decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Membership of the committee which provides strategic oversight of the organisation’s investment portfolio, ensuring it aligns with ESG principles, our ethical investment policy and fiduciary duties.
2. Evaluate and recommend ESG-integrated investment strategies, including impact investing and climate change risk mitigation.
3. Collaborate with fellow committee members, investment managers, and staff to assess the ESG risks and opportunities within the portfolio.
4. Monitor and review ESG performance metrics and benchmarks to ensure alignment with our long-term goals.
5. Advocate for continuous improvement in sustainable investment practices across the organisation.
Requirements:
1. Proven expertise in ESG principles, sustainable finance, or responsible investing.
2. Professional experience in investment management, corporate governance, or a related field.
3. Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and global ESG standards.
4. Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
5. Supportive of the mission and ministry of the Church in Wales and the ability to uphold fiduciary responsibilities with integrity.
What We Offer:
An opportunity to make a meaningful impact by shaping the future of sustainable investing. A collaborative and forward-thinking environment working as part of a committee of dedicated professionals. The chance to contribute to the governance of one of Wales’s largest charities.
How to Apply: If you are ready to bring your ESG expertise to our Investment Committee and help drive positive change, we would love to hear from you.
Join us in creating a more sustainable and responsible financial future!
The time commitment for the role is 4 meetings per year of roughly half a day each plus time to read the committee papers ahead of the meetings. This is a voluntary role, but travel expenses can be reclaimed.
There is no requirement to have a Christian faith; this role is open to those of all faiths or none, but we do expect those on our committees to be generally supportive of the mission and ministry of the Church in Wales.
