Job description: The Role We have an exciting opportunity to work as part of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Core Theme to provide operational, performance and financial management across a portfolio of translational research and associated activity. The Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre is a major funding award from the NIHR to the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust delivered in partnership with the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University and Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust. The NIHR Newcastle BRC supports a range of projects, studentships, clinical infrastructure and research posts across our research themes to achieve our aims and objectives. As part of NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre core team you will lead on the performance, financial and operational management of the award and provide the key link between the BRC Core and individual research themes which it oversees. You will work closely with the BRC theme leads to ensure the BRC funding is used to deliver on agreed objectives and will ensure effective administrative and operational support is in place. Your role will ensure there are high levels of consistency, central control and oversight across the centre. The post will report to the NIHR BRC Chief Operating Officer and upwards to the NIHR BRC Director. You will lead on financial management of the NIHR Newcastle BRC award and annual financial reporting to the NIHR, developing accurate financial forecasting and reporting and working with themes to ensure that annual NIHR spending requirements are met across the centre. You will also lead the team undertaking annual reporting to the NIHR on the Newcastle BRC's progress and oversee the management and continued development of information systems to collect data, information and knowledge across the partnership to demonstrate the performance and impact of NIHR Newcastle BRC.
