Are you an experienced Speech & Language Therapist who is looking to develop your clinical and leadership skills?
An exciting clinical leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced speech and language therapist to work in the Greater Preston team. This post will provide clinical leadership to SLT staff in the Preston team, as well as the development of clinical pathways across Lancashire. The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical expertise in the area of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). This will involve regular updates of the DLD clinical pathway in line with the current evidence base, updating and providing DLD specific training for SLTs, parents and wider professionals who are working with children and young people with DLD, and providing second opinions for SLTs working with children with DLD across the Trust.
You will manage a complex caseload and be capable of working autonomously to provide direct clinical care. You will be able to provide effective clinical and professional supervision, be able to identify training needs of individuals and lead on the delivery of suitable training, demonstrating high level, expert speech and language therapy skills and knowledge. You will be required to support student placements and be required to meet the travel requirements of the post.
To provide expert clinical advice to the Management and Leadership Team within the Service Line.
To provide leadership to relevant care pathways including the review and redesign of these pathways, the development and monitoring of outcome measures in relation to relevant care pathways and the continual improvement of care pathways and packages of care.
To work with other Clinical Leads where appropriate to establish clinical networks across LCFT for relevant clinical specialities and / or care pathways.
To identify training and development needs associated with specialist area of clinical practice and support other practitioners’ development through delivering in house training, supervision and mentoring.
To lead the development and review of clinical protocols as relevant to specialist area.
To lead clinical service transformation projects as relevant to specialist area.
To be responsible for a highly specialist portfolio in an agreed area of expertise, which will include provision of expert advice to therapists/nurses across teams to support them in taking up the duty of care; the coordination, development and delivery of training programmes and information packages for parents/carers and colleagues working in health and education.
