Summer Placement Software Engineer
Job Description:
The 13-week Summer Industrial Placement Programme offers a unique opportunity to enhance your technical skills while working on meaningful projects alongside experienced engineers. This programme is remunerated £25,000 per annum.
You will receive coaching and support to achieve your personal goals and work in multidisciplinary teams, gaining experience across the product lifecycle. Successful placements may lead to offers for further placements or our Graduate Development programme.
What you will do as a Summer Placement Software Engineer:
* Report to an experienced Software Engineer for day-to-day guidance and on-the-job training.
* Be introduced to software development processes and utilize state-of-the-art methods, technology, and tools.
* Gain experience in aspects of the software development lifecycle, including applied research, requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing.
* Learn practical skills that may not be easily gained in a university environment.
* Receive coaching and support to achieve your personal goals.
What we are looking for:
This opportunity is for students studying a science-based degree such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronic Engineering (BSc (Hon) / BEng (Hon) / MEng).
A full statement of courses and projects studied at university with corresponding grades/marks/percentage should be included in your CV.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required:
* Some experience of computer programming.
* Enthusiasm and passion for designing software and writing code.
* Experience of an object-oriented programming language such as Java, C++, C#, or JavaScript; knowledge of UML is an advantage.
* Applications are welcomed from candidates who have completed a first degree and seek industrial experience prior to a relevant higher degree (i.e., PhD, MSc).
Role Requirements:
All Summer Placement roles require you to be currently studying a relevant degree discipline such as Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or other STEM subjects.
Security Clearance:
To apply, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance, typically requiring a minimum of five years permanent residency in the UK.
