As part of Oldham Psychological Medicine Services (OPMS) ongoing innovative work, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for a GP with special interest. This is a substantive, part-time appointment which would fit alongside other roles. The post holder would work with the current OPMS leadership team to develop the clinical intervention, which would focus on people with persistent physical symptoms, alongside high healthcare utilisation and complex polypharmacy. The post holder would be a member of the psychological medicine team, including psychiatric and therapy colleagues, and would have the opportunity to co-work where appropriate. The post holder would have space dedicated to developing links with primary care in order to maximise the benefit of the proposed intervention, as well as supporting OPMS in its educational work.
The broad aim of OPMS is to support people with complex health needs, and those who care for them including professionals. The aim is to bridge the gap between physical and mental health care, and primary and secondary care. The service is for patients aged 16 and over.
The role will include implementation, delivery and evaluation of the service by working closely with the other clinicians and managers involved and supported by the OPMS.
