Yorkshire Water Graduate Scheme – Strategy and Regulation Project Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate position in the Strategy & Regulation function at Yorkshire Water.

THE ROLE:
The Graduate Programme is a two-year programme offering five structured placements within your business area, with selective placements in other areas, including our core functions, such as Finance, Health & Safety, People, Procurement to provide a holistic and rounded business learning journey.
The variety within the programme will see you working across our business and undertaking activities alongside your colleagues to meet the challenges faced by our industry ranging from how to achieve net zero carbon emissions through to how we plan for drought or flood events. The Strategy & Regulation function covers a number of connected, yet discrete areas, with the opportunity to work across exciting areas, such as identifying and delivering innovation opportunities, championing nature-based solutions, through to contributing to strategies central to Yorkshire Water achieving our vision.
The Strategy & Regulation function is integral to driving the growth of Yorkshire Water through the revenues secured during the Periodic Review process. Strategy & Regulation have a key role to play in shaping Yorkshire Water’s strategic direction and, as such, take a forward-looking approach to business planning. We are a committed team with a wealth of technical experiences, accountable for meeting Yorkshire Water’s statutory and legal requirements, whilst also securing opportunities for growth and building our influence.
The R&D Innovation team sits within the Strategy & Regulation function who deliver a programme that aligns with and addresses current operational and emerging strategic risks, and considering wider challenges facing the industry such as population growth, climate change, affordability and stakeholder expectations. Our vision is to deliver opportunities for resilience, improved service performance and business growth through a programme of Research and Development based on a clear articulation of risk and opportunity.
Where you’ll fit in:
As a Graduate Strategy & Regulation Project Manager you will:
* Follow all aspects of the Innovation Project Management life cycle and ensure that all projects are delivered to time, cost and quality as well as coordinating input to and then driving the technical direction of the project.
* Work with colleagues in the Procurement, Legal and Contracts teams to ensure work with partners and the supply chain is completed in a timely and professional manner, and in line with Corporate Governance policies.
* Work with the Business Sponsor to maximise the chance of successful implementation of projects throughout the life cycle.
* Ensure that an effective communication plan exposes projects to maximum potential publicity and dissemination throughout their life cycle both internal and external to Yorkshire Water.
* Play an active part in delivering an annual review, which forms part of the wider 5 year price review process.
* Respond, or coordinate a response to regulatory requests for information.
Whilst the core element of the role focuses on ‘project management’, the breadth of Strategy & Regulation enables various pathways and development opportunities, allowing for a flexible and adaptive programme that meets the Graduate and business needs. We offer a balanced development programme throughout the duration of your two years with support from Sponsoring Managers, Graduate Champions and Mentors, as well as core programme team to support you from the day you make the decision to join us.
Requirements:
* Minimum 2:1 Bachelors degree in a Science, Sustainability or Engineering discipline.
* Full clean UK driving licence.
* Enthusiasm and a drive to succeed.

Recruitment Process:
The Assessment Centre will take place on week commencing 24th February 2025 to the 28th February 2025 with final decisions communicated by the 22nd March 2025.
The information session for successful candidates will be held on the morning of the 4th September, 2025.
