About the Role
This is an exciting time to join our Barnsley Children's Service's as we seek an experienced social work qualified Manager to join our contextual safeguarding and complex risk team, BSafe. This team is at the centre of our partnership safeguarding response to the challenges faced by children who are vulnerable to, or subject of exploitation and harm; who are at risk through persistent missing episodes; and who may pose a risk to themselves and others through harmful sexual behaviours, or violence.
Require an experienced, inspirational and motivated manager to lead the team within this structure. Working within our evolved youth Justice Service structure and managing a small team of Social Workers, you will have responsibility for ensuring the effective planning and oversight of children subject to a variety of plans, supporting your team to work innovatively individually and with partners. All of this is based on a flexible brief that supports reduced caseloads enabling intensive and highly flexible practice to support the needs of the children and their families.
In addition, you play a vital role in the wider partnership work taking place to further develop the partnership response to exploitation and complex risk at both a strategic and operational level.
Main tasks include:
1. Develop and drive continuous professional development across the team and within wider children's service.
2. Take a lead in the operational delivery of key processes to manage this cohort: MACE; partnership daily briefings; effective allocation of cases; effective case supervision and quality assurance; co-ordinating mapping and sharing intelligence with police partners.
3. Play a key role in workforce development.
4. Lead and supervise the Social Workers within the team.
5. Support wider management processes within the wider service.
Requirements:
1. A highly dynamic approach and the ability to thrive when working in a challenging and unpredictable environment.
2. A recognised social work qualification and registration with SWE.
3. Significant post qualification experience that enables you to offer coherent input into management decisions.
4. Experience of supporting and supervising staff.
5. A commitment to supporting the learning and development of others.
6. Knowledge and understanding of working with vulnerable young people.
7. Experience and knowledge of working with partners to address contextual safeguarding risks.
