About the Role
Connex Education is seeking a passionate and experienced SEND Teacher (QTS) to join a specialized team in a nurturing and highly supportive SEN school in Barking & Dagenham. This role involves teaching a small group of children with complex needs, offering a highly individualized and sensory-focused curriculum.
You will be responsible for leading a classroom of five pupils, aged 11–16, each with unique needs. The role requires a strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and the ability to deliver a personalized and structured approach to learning.

Assignment Details

* Monday – Friday, 8:00am start, 4:00pm finish (Term Time Only)
Person Specification
We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teacher who meets the following criteria:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential, with proven experience teaching pupils with SEND in a school or specialist setting.
* Adaptability and Resilience: A flexible and patient approach to managing high levels of physical behavior.
* Personalized Learning: Ability to plan and deliver individualized lessons, set targets, and track progress against intervention plans.
* Behavior Management Expertise: Strong understanding of de-escalation strategies and behavior management approaches, tailored to students with complex needs.
* Sensory Curriculum Knowledge: Familiarity with sensory-focused teaching techniques to engage learners effectively.
* Team Collaboration: Experience leading and working closely with a team of TAs, ensuring effective support for pupils’ diverse needs.
* DBS Check: A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to provide a new one.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience working with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, including personalized timetables.
* Proficiency in communication aids such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC devices.
* A strong understanding of strategies for supporting transitions and routines in SEN environments.
