Job summary This is a post for a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive care created due to expansion of services. This is a full-time post with a provisional and indicative job plan as outlined. The successful candidate will work with the current cohort of Consultant Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists to provide care for patients admitted to the Lancashire Cardiac Centre. The post holder will be employed by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and professionally accountable to both Clinical leads for Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care and managerially accountable through Medical Director to the Chief Executive. The Cardiothoracic Directorate consists of Departments of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Cardiology, Cardiac theatres and CITU. We are part of the Division of Scheduled Care. Main duties of the job The successful appointee will be responsible for the provision of anaesthesia for cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery (including elective and emergency) and cardiology cases including EP procedures, TAVI, devices and PPCI. There will be an expectation to cover the cardiothoracic intensive care unit as per indicative job plan and provide out of hours service to theatres, Catheter labs and CITU.
