The role and team
The A&M IT Engineering team seeks a highly motivated, action-orientated Systems Engineer to join our team in London on a fixed term contract. As an A&M IT Engineering team member you will provide advanced support, system deployment and maintenance, and administration of cloud, physical, and virtual computing environments across the enterprise. This position works closely with other Infrastructure, Network, Operations, Security and Application Engineers and Developers, as well as Business Partners to implement, monitor and maintain production and dev environments.
You will also have the opportunity to work closely with various team members to assist with design, maintenance, configuration and support of IT Systems in a 24/7/365 global environment with attention to availability, performance, and security.
The Role
The Systems Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Support mission critical systems and infrastructure, projects, and new initiatives (Level 3 support).
2. Deploy, administer, and maintain servers and applications including but not limited to AD, DNS, DHCP, file and print servers, storage, production applications, virtualization, SAN, NAS, high availability, Disaster Recovery, security administration, patch management, alert notifications, user administration, operational support.
3. Deploy, administer, and maintain line of business systems and applications. Test and implement software updates to ensure functionality is maintained and/or improved.
4. Working through various mechanisms in M365 and Azure to automate and streamline processes as applicable.
5. Comfort with translating business requirements into technical capabilities for systems design.
6. Advanced Tier 3 support for systems and applications including root cause analysis, focused strongly on M365 advanced solutions.
7. Advanced Tier 3 support to end users as appropriate, focused strongly on M365 advanced solutions.
8. Contribute to writing and maintaining documentation for technical and non-technical audiences; including systems and disaster recovery documentation.
9. Coordinate, collaborate, and communicate frequently with IT 3rd party service providers.
The Requirements
1. A number of solid years' experience of IT support experience.
2. Azure experience with an understanding of the platform.
3. Strong experience working with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and various cloud platforms.
4. Strong capabilities with Powershell or other scripting languages.
5. Strong understanding of on-premises and cloud-based identity management.
6. Exposure to virtualization technologies (ESXI, vCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V, SCVMM).
7. Knowledge of modern enterprise data centre operations.
8. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft server platforms and networking concepts including but not limited to Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Server 2008r2-2019, Exchange 2010-2019, SQL, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, and related technologies.
9. A strong understanding of industry standard security processes and procedures (such as ITIL) as well as project management.
10. Excellent organizational and communications skills.
11. Excellent customer services skills.
12. Analytical thinker with excellent problem solving, investigation, diagnostic and teamwork skills.
