Role: Teacher for Alternative Provision
Location: Northampton
Salary: £30k to 40k (based on teaching experience)
Hours: Full Time - 8:20am to 4:30pm
Contract: Permanent: September start
Simply Education is seeking an experienced Teacher to join an established team of an alternative provision in Northampton. This position will entail working 5 days a week teaching KS3 and KS4 students with various subjects and further studies. This setting supports pupils that are currently not in formal education, are at risk of being permanently excluded or cannot meet their potential in their current setting.
About the school:
This small setting caters for approximately 35 pupils on roll aged 13-16 who have experienced a negative impact on their lives and need a boost in self-esteem and confidence. The school focuses on changing students’ mindset and working towards the goal of students returning to mainstream settings. There is a core team of the Head of School, Deputy Head of School, up to seven teachers, and five support staff with extra support from across the group.
The role of a Teacher in an Alternative Provision:
In this role, each day is different and so adapting to new environments and different learning styles is key. You will be enthusiastic about teaching different subjects in the school day and supporting students who have become disengaged with learning and display challenging behaviour. You must demonstrate a passionate about fostering a love for learning, embracing diversity, and encouraging students to think beyond the traditional.
Requirements for the Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status or be willing to work towards, QTS/QTLS
- Proven track record of raising attainment, supporting behavioural challenges and demonstrating high levels of pastoral care.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum and experience teaching a range of different subjects.
- Ability to effectively develop the confidence, language, behaviour and social skills of pupils between the ages of 13-16
- Enthusiastic about alternative education methodologies.
- An understanding of working with students with SEND and SEMH needs
- An understanding of pupils’ behaviour patterns when experiencing complex needs and trauma
