S&D Trade Recruitment is supporting a leading manufacturing company, part of an international group, in their search for a Design and Technical Engineer. Based in Bolton, this well-established business prides itself on delivering high-quality manufacturing solutions to a diverse customer base. As a Design and Technical Engineer, you will be at the heart of product design and technical support. You will collaborate closely with sales, production, and engineering teams, helping to deliver tailored solutions to customers while contributing to new product development and process improvements. Friday: 07:30 to 12:50 (38 hours per week). Salary £34,000 to £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience. Design and Technical Engineer Responsibilities: Provide technical support to the Sales team and assist in the costing and specification of products. Use SolidWorks to create detailed manufacturing drawings and models. Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure accurate production data for planning. Support the integration of new products into the production process, working closely with production engineering and quality teams. Assist in driving continuous improvement projects to enhance manufacturing processes. Collaborate with customers on both existing and new products, offering technical expertise and support. Follow and contribute to standard New Product Development (NPD) processes across the group. Ensure that all technical documentation is up to date and well-managed. What We’re Looking For: HND or Degree qualification in Mechanical, Technical, or Engineering disciplines. At least 5 years of experience in a technical, design, or engineering-based role. Proficiency in SolidWorks for producing technical drawings and 3D models. Experience with customer-facing roles and managing technical projects. A proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong communication and organisational skills. Familiarity with lean manufacturing and ISO 9001 standards would be beneficial.
