Our Customs specialists work closely with colleagues across the firm to provide a joined-up service to a diverse range of clients, from middle market businesses to large corporations, combining expertise in accounting, audit and all relevant taxes. As a national Customs practice and part of the national VAT service line, we provide the freedom to find the right balance between sector specialism and general advisory, as well as an opportunity to initiate and develop new areas of focus for the team. As a fast-growing faculty, there are significant opportunities for client development and a strong emphasis on delivering a strong pipeline of varied advisory work.
As an Assistant Manager in one of our national offices, you will undertake detailed planning and the implementation of Customs client work, ensuring the provision of an effective and cost driven service to clients in line with budgets. You will supervise junior members of the team and collaborate closely with Managers and Partners, as well as being responsible for the preparation of advice and the interface between a group of clients and the firm to ensure that the agreed expectations of the clients in terms of service, quality and cost and also the firm’s targets are met.
You’ll make an impact by:
* Identifying and advising on Customs planning opportunities and undertaking specialist technical assignments.
* Being a point of contact to clients on Customs queries and maintaining excellent client service.
* Working with senior colleagues in identifying, interviewing and converting prospective clients and assisting other departments in the research and preparation of formal proposals for new work.
* Developing an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses and an awareness of the firm’s services.
* Continually improving your skills, knowledge and capability for the benefit of our clients which you will be expected to embrace as part of your own development and promote by way of providing coaching and guidance to junior members of the team in a confident manner.

* Educated to degree standard, with a minimum of three years’ experience in the Customs or related field.
