The STPN has a variety of Workstreams including Paediatric Critical Care. The core STPN team comprises joint Clinical Directors, Network Manager, Project Managers, Nurse Leads, an Analyst and Project Coordinators. We are joined by our appointed external Clinical Leads.
The post holder will need to be passionate about improving services for children and young people. You will be expected to have an interest or knowledge of working within a network and across organisational boundaries, including the ability to work autonomously and to engage and communicate with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders. Political sensitivity and the ability to communicate highly complex and contentious information clearly is key.
The STPN is hosted by Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will have a contract with Evelina London (via Guy’s and ST Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT)).
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to join our team for maternity leave cover on a 12 month contract. The Lead Nurse for the Paediatric Critical Care (PCC) ODN will be an experienced, registered paediatric nurse with current paediatric critical care or related experience and skills.
The post holder will play a pivotal role in our new programme to provide level 2 PCC care within some District General Hospitals across the network geography.

This key role within the STPN team provides nursing leadership across the PCC Network, acting as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for all members of STPN.
The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Leads for PCC, the core STPN team and the wider PCC community across STPN providers to develop and deliver the strategic and operational programme of work that addresses national and local priorities.
In partnership with the ODN Nurse Educator, the post holder will complete a training needs analysis, developing and delivering relevant education programmes that promote excellence in PCC across the region. The post holder will work collaboratively with other members of the STPN team on key topics that underpin all work streams e.g. building a sustainable workforce and surge management.
The post-holder will lead on the promotion of family-centred care within the Clinical Network, ensuring user participation in future service planning.
The South Thames Paediatric Network (STPN) was established in 2018. Our vision is to transform children’s healthcare, together.
The STPN is funded by NHS England to implement the NHS Long Term Plan, GIRFT and other national recommendations to ensure that transformation of services for children and young people (CYP) is aligned across the South Thames region (South London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex) and co-ordinated with partner organisations.
The network region covers 23 hospitals and 5 integrated care systems. The Network works in close collaboration with the North Thames Paediatric and the Thames Valley and Wessex, and other national Paediatric Operational Delivery Networks.
