Job Description
Chippindale Plant, as part of the AER Group, is one of the largest privately owned plant hire and sales group of companies in the UK.
The company was established in 1949 and operates out of 8 depots in the North of England, providing a complete hire and sales service for a wide range of Construction Plant, Tools, Excavator Attachments and Secure Site Accommodation.
We are looking for a Site Accommodation Depot Manager based in our Leeds Depot. This is a dual role involving the overall management of our Accommodation Hire Division, including the development and implementation of a working strategy to increase customer account activity and revenue.
Sales Role
1. Expand business opportunities with existing key account customers and leads generated through our depot network.
2. Source and onboard new customer accounts; actively seeking out potential customers.
3. Manage client relationships and act as the main point of contact.
4. Act as first line problem resolution, handling any issues or concerns raised by clients.
5. Visit customers and sites to support customer relationships.
6. Agree and build pricing schedules with the Managing Director/Operations Director.
7. Develop new business with a broad spectrum of customers.
8. Ensure accurate system and process compliance (quotes, orders, CRM activity, etc.).
9. Support marketing and social media engagement.
10. Attend networking, trade and industry events, participate in network events, trade shows and industry conferences to represent the company, build connections and explore potential business opportunities.
11. Provide customers with product demonstrations; conduct product demonstrations to potential and existing customers, showcasing the features and benefits and value of the company’s offering.
12. Undertake site surveys where required.
Depot Role
Responsible for managing the efficient and profitable operation of the site accommodation division based at Leeds. This will include:
1. Management responsibility for the 4 staff at Leeds (Hire coordinator, workshop foreman, and the 2 yard operatives), including their training and development.
2. Control of the customer quoting process to ensure a timely response and put in place procedures to chase up quotes and close deals.
3. Centralisation of the quoting process for all the depots, ensuring prompt quote responses, particularly with email inquiries. Follow up calls and effective negotiation required to win their business.
4. Review price lists and distribute accordingly.
5. Proper control of the site accommodation assets through effective implementation of the existing booking in/out/transfer procedures.
6. Control of transport, including outsourcing of haulage and all the issues associated with site deliveries such as waiting time, aborted deliveries, and site moves of cabins.
7. Negotiation of transport charges, ensuring charge out rates to customers are clear and precise.
8. Development of an effective goods inwards process to ensure customer damages are properly notified and charged.
9. Working in conjunction with the foreman to control stock levels of parts and consumables, including evaluating supply chain alternatives.
10. Workshop planning to ensure that the workshops prioritize customers and have the flexibility to meet urgent requirements.
11. Make proposals for asset purchases, disposals, and refurbishments.
12. Oversee administrative procedures for site services such as cleaning cabins and tank empties.
13. Manage customer disputes to ensure a satisfactory outcome.
14. Work with credit control on customer payment issues.
15. In conjunction with the general manager, ensure that all health and safety measures are implemented and followed by the staff.
Competencies Required
1. Proven track record in hire and sales management in the site accommodation industry.
2. An experienced sales professional with strong negotiation, relationship, and management skills.
3. Demonstrate high motivation, ability to work under pressure, self-reliance, and capability to make difficult decisions, including ownership of problems until resolved and going the extra mile for customer satisfaction.
4. Common-sense approach to operational management, setting high standards and expectations from staff.
5. Due to the geography of the area, live within a 60-minute drive of the Leeds depot.
6. Have a full driving licence.
7. IT literacy is essential.
