The role
London or Manchester (Hybrid working model, 2 days a week office based, 3 days remote)

Smart DCC is at the forefront of the UK's smart meter and energy regulation sector, working with key government bodies and regulatory authorities to shape the future of energy infrastructure. We’re seeking a highly motivated Regulatory Engagement Manager to join our Regulatory Engagement Team and help manage our relationships with key regulatory stakeholders such as Ofgem, DESNZ, Ofcom, and DSIT.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence decision-making and contribute to DCC’s strategic vision, ensuring that we effectively engage with stakeholders while delivering business growth and regulatory compliance.
What will you be doing?
1. Engagement with Regulators: Manage DCC’s interactions with key government bodies and regulators, including DESNZ, Ofgem, Ofcom, and DSIT, to influence decision-making and shape the regulatory environment.
2. Strategic Briefings & Communications: Prepare C-suite briefings on critical business topics, assisting with strategic planning, and collaborating with internal SMEs, function leads, and senior leadership.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with program teams, senior management, and external stakeholders to coordinate updates, identify key messages, and ensure alignment across all functions.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Manage and plan engagement activities, helping DCC’s senior leadership stay informed of emerging issues and regulatory themes.
5. Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Monitor regulatory priorities, policy changes, and potential implications for DCC, preparing detailed briefings for the Board and ExCo.
6. Issue Management: Identify and escalate material issues arising in DCC’s work with regulators and ensure they are addressed by senior management.
What are we looking for?
1. Education: Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field.
2. Regulatory Insight: Solid understanding of the regulatory environment, with experience working with government bodies or regulators (desirable).
3. Stakeholder Management: Proven track record of managing senior stakeholders and building strong relationships across organizations.
4. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and concisely.
5. Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize conflicting demands effectively.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working in a complex environment, collaborating with various teams, and aligning on key messages.

Step 1

Chat with a recruiter
Once you pass the initial screening stage, one of our recruiters will be in touch to chat through the role and your experience. If all goes well, your application will be passed on to the hiring manager, who'll put together a shortlist for interview.

Come for an interview
For most roles there'll be a two-stage interview process, which will include questions about your CV, competency and technical skills. For more senior positions there could be an additional interview stage. You may also be asked to give a presentation or complete a technical test, but we'll let you know in advance so you have plenty of time to prepare.
Step 4
Receive an offer
Once the interview process has been completed the successful candidate will receive an offer. Throughout the interview process the recruiter and hiring manager are happy to answer any questions you have.
