The Role: The role of the Senior Technician is to provide effective and efficient, guidance, mentoring and support to operational production teams to safely & reliably deliver clean drinking water. To undertake all technical aspects of work on production assets, and to be able to problem solve, develop and implement tactical plans to overcome both proactive and reactive challenges to support the company’s ambitious quality, safety, and environmental targets. Critical Performance Objectives: Continuous employee engagement, staff retention and team development. Assess the competency of the team in conjunction with the Competent Operator Scheme manual. Deliver the companies unplanned outage ODI to a maximum reward position. Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities: Effective mentoring an upskilling of operational Production staff. Implementation and continued compliance of industry leading Health & Safety standards associated with all operational staff and sites. Develop, implement and maintain adequate procedures, systems, practices and risk assessments. Authorised to issue permits to work to staff and Contractors. Liaising with external bodies, auditors, review bodies and regulators as required. Work in conjunction with regional chemist to maximise Water Quality and efficiency throughout all treatment works. Working with Production coordinator evaluate staff competency against the Competent Operator Scheme (COS) framework and highlight areas for training and coaching for each team member. Promote and support identification of needs, project scope development and capital investment proposals. Oversee and carry out technical installations. (electrical, mechanical & chemical) Be escalation point for responding to site and equipment breakdowns and safely return plant to supply. Active participation on 365, 24/7 production standby rota. What You’ll Need: Competencies / Experience / Knowledge: Demonstrate experience & knowledge in electrical, mechanical & chemical process installations & commissioning. Competent Operator Scheme accreditation. Competent in mentoring role and ability to demonstrate experience. Education / Qualifications: HNC / HND Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Confined Space medium risk IOSH Managing Safely EUSR SHEA / CSCS Card EUSR National Water Hygiene Card Electrical installation and testing (C&G Level 3) Level 3 Controlling Process (NVQ) Level 3 Water Treatment Operations.
