About the School:
Supply Desk are partnering with a warm, inclusive, and community-driven primary school in Sittingbourne, which boasts excellent transport links. This inclusive school is known for its nurturing environment and commitment to providing tailored support for all pupils. They are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 2 with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) on a full-time, long-term basis.
Position Overview:
This rewarding role involves providing personalised support to help a child in Year 2 thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to implement strategies that meet the child's unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support for a child with ASD in Key Stage 1, ensuring their safety, engagement, and well-being.
* Develop and implement individualised learning plans in collaboration with the class teacher and SENDCO.
* Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that encourages the child's development.
* Assist with classroom activities, promoting positive engagement and participation.
* Use tools such as visual aids and social stories to support the child's learning and social interactions.
* Monitor and document the child's progress, providing regular feedback to the teacher and SENDCO.
* Support the child in developing communication, social, and independent learning skills.
* Employ positive behaviour management strategies to help the child understand and manage their behaviour.
* Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the child, ensuring they feel safe and valued.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience supporting children with ASD or other SEND needs.
* An understanding of autism and strategies for effective support in an educational setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with children.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
* Relevant qualifications in education or SEND (desirable but not essential).
* A current DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
