About the Role Oxfordshire County Council is excited to announce the creation of a new Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO) who will be the lead officer for Social Care in the Local Area SEND Service with responsibility for ensuring that the SEND reform agenda is embedded within social care operations and practice. As a DSCO, you will play a pivotal role in strategically leading and delivering social care elements of the Local Area SEND strategy across the Local Authority in accordance with legislation, National Standards, safeguarding procedures, and local policies. You will develop effective multi-disciplinary practices to maximise the use of resources and provide efficient and effective services to children, families, and carers. The post holder will have in-depth knowledge and understanding of both social care processes and the SEND reforms agenda and will look to strengthen practice and generate solutions. You will develop and maintain strong relationships within the council and with external partners, including health partners, to support co-production and integrated support. You will constructively challenging practice, systems, processes and protocols to enhance SEND reform compliance as part of this collaboration. You will influence the direction of wider Local Area SEND Services through intelligence and insight. The role acts as an important conduit of information between parents/children and Local Area SEND Services, ensuring that both parents and students voices are represented and acted upon. The postholder will also gather and represent views from across children’s social care and the Moving into Adult Service. You will be responsible for developing social care aspects of the Local Offer that provide relevant advice and information and meet all legislative requirements. You will ensure that social care processes, pathways, and information are clearly documented. You will take responsibility for leading social care elements of the local area’s preparation to ensure readiness for regulatory inspections, including the self-evaluation. You will contribute to social care workforce development by formulating a programme of blended learning/training relating to the SEND reforms across varied audience profile and functions.
