Learning Support Assistant – Newcastle Area (Term Time Only)

The school serves a mixed and dynamic catchment area, with students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. It is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student, regardless of their learning needs, can thrive.
About the Role:
This is a term-time only position, meaning you will work in line with the school calendar, enjoying the school holidays off. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will assist students with additional learning needs, providing one-to-one and small group support in a variety of subjects. You will work closely with teachers to help implement learning strategies and ensure all students can access the curriculum effectively.
Ideal Candidate & Background:
While previous experience in a similar role is preferred, it is not essential. We are looking for individuals who have a genuine passion for supporting students, especially those with additional needs. Experience in roles such as teaching assistant, care work, support work, or in youth services/childcare would be beneficial, but we also welcome applications from people looking to start their career in education. A background in psychology, special educational needs (SEN), or education-related fields is a plus but not required.
What’s most important is your enthusiasm, patience, and empathy. We are looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable, and eager to support young people in reaching their academic and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with additional learning needs.
* Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
* Support students with academic, emotional, and behavioural needs.
* Contribute to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
* Collaborate with teachers to track student progress and provide constructive feedback.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
