We are a market-leading engineering company based in Hampshire, and we are seeking an experienced Technical Bid Writer to join our dynamic Custom Projects Team. As a Technical Bid Writer, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the bid response process, ensuring that all submissions are well-structured, technically accurate, and aligned with client requirements. You will work closely with internal teams, senior stakeholders, and subject matter experts to create compelling proposals that showcase the company’s capabilities and win new business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the preparation of detailed, high-quality bid responses for custom engineering projects, ensuring they meet the technical, commercial, and contractual requirements set by the client.
2. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other departments to gather relevant information and ensure the accuracy and relevance of bid content.
3. Develop and maintain a library of standard answers, templates, and content to improve the efficiency and consistency of future bids.
4. Continuously seek opportunities to streamline and enhance the bid process, driving improvements in quality, efficiency, and competitiveness.
5. Collaborate with senior leadership and other key stakeholders to ensure that all bids are aligned with the company’s strategic goals and capabilities.
6. Support the management of the bid timetable, ensuring deadlines are met and the submission process runs smoothly.
7. Conduct thorough reviews of tender documents to identify key requirements and risks, ensuring that all client specifications are addressed in the proposal.
8. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, ensuring that the technical content aligns with commercial and pricing strategies.
Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Proven experience as a Technical Bid Writer, ideally within the engineering or technical sectors.
2. Strong understanding of the bid process, including preparation, coordination, and submission of technical proposals.
3. Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and senior leadership.
5. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify key requirements and ensure all client needs are addressed in the bid response.
6. Experience in developing and maintaining bid libraries, templates, and standard responses to enhance the efficiency of future submissions.
7. Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids and meet tight deadlines.
8. A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with a focus on enhancing the quality and efficiency of the bid process.
