About Previsico
At Previsico, we’re committed to reducing the global impact of flooding by harnessing cutting-edge science and technology. Backed by VC funding and rooted in research from Loughborough University, our solutions are trusted by insurers, businesses, and governments worldwide to mitigate flood risks.
As we expand our team, we’re looking for a Hydrometeorologist to enhance our flood forecasting system by integrating advanced weather models and data analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Innovate in Hydrometeorology:
1. Source, evaluate, and optimise national and global weather datasets for flood forecasting.
2. Develop innovative methods for using deterministic and ensemble weather data.
3. Automate weather data validation using Python and GIS tools.
Enhance Flood Forecasting Systems:
1. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve forecast accuracy.
2. Integrate meteorological and hydrological models into our flood prediction platform.
3. Test and refine APIs for real-time weather data integration.
Drive Product Development:
1. Stay ahead of advancements in hydrometeorology and flood risk management.
2. Contribute to the development of new forecasting features and methodologies.
3. Document processes and write innovation grants to support R&D initiatives.
About You
We’re seeking a talented and driven professional with the following skills and qualifications:
1. Education: MSc/PhD in Meteorology, Hydrology, or a related field.
2. Experience: 3+ years in hydrometeorology, weather data analysis, and flood forecasting.
3. Technical Skills:
4. Advanced Python programming (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
5. Expertise in GIS and spatial data processing.
6. Proficiency in handling large datasets and integrating APIs.
7. Strong analytical mindset with a proven ability to innovate in data-driven environments.
