Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for two Clinical Teaching Fellows (Specialty Registrar/ST3 level) in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Somerset Foundation Trust, based at the site location of Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. These job roles are fixed term for 12 months from 6th August 2025 to 4th August 2026. You would join our existing specialty registrar trainees and contribute to the on call rota. You should have attained MRCS or equivalent and ideally should have 18 months of training in orthopaedic surgery at CT level or above. This post will allow the fellow to improve their experience in elective and trauma orthopaedic surgery, as well as allowing them to develop their educational portfolio in the Musgrove Park Academy fulfilling a teaching role for Bristol undergraduate students. The successful applicant will also be encouraged to enrol on the Teaching and Learning For Health Professionals (Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education) course at the University of Bristol and this will be sponsored whilst employed at our Trust. This is a combined clinical and teaching post; it's anticipated that the educational component will equate to 50% of your basic working hours. The educational aspects of the role will support the requirements of the Academy, working closely with the other clinical teaching fellows and the appropriate clinical leads. Time off in lieu following on call activity will come from clinical rather than teaching commitments. Main duties of the job These posts ideally suited individuals who will have completed core training in orthopaedic surgery and are looking for career progression prior to applying for a national training number or an existing specialty trainee who wishes to enhance their surgical experience and education portfolio. Time will be split 50:50 between clinical and teaching commitments, and any time off in lieu following on call will be from clinical sessions. To work 1 in 8 orthopaedic middle grade on call rota.
