Job Overview
The generic preop assessment department is a busy unit with nurse-led clinics and Anaesthetic clinics. The post holder will need to be IT literate and good at working under pressure. The successful applicant will be responsible for the preparation, co-ordination, and cancellation of clinics including ensuring the booking, cancelling (and re-booking) of new and follow-up appointments, arranging appropriate tests (as required), locating and retrieving & uploading referral letters and results obtained from other hospitals. Provide a telephone service, answering and recording incoming calls, relaying queries and messages as necessary, whilst liaising with other departments.
Main duties of the job
1. Preparation, co-ordination, and cancellation of clinics
2. Booking, cancelling (and re-booking) of new and follow-up appointments
3. Locating, obtaining, and uploading information
4. Provide a telephone service, answering calls and dealing with requests from patients and other departments
5. Outcoming the clinics at the end of the day
6. Providing reports as requested
7. Collecting data

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria
* Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent
* Minimum 6 months previous clerical or administrative experience
* Experience of working in health care
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Competent in the use of computer systems
* Appreciate the needs of the patients, carers, and health care staff

* Qualification in typing/keyboard/IT skills
* Experience of outpatient department
* Experience of gathering information from other health organisations
