About the roles
We’ve two amazing opportunities to join our Health and Safety team here at Northumbrian Water group (NWG). We are looking for two extremely motivated individuals with a real passion for H&S, who will help drive our aspiration of ensuring every employee goes home safe at the end of each day.
H&S Business Partner Operations:
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving the Everyone Home Safe Every day (EHSED) culture across the business. Working closely with stakeholders, you will provide expert guidance and leadership to ensure that health and safety practices are effectively and pragmatically integrated into daily situations. You will work closely with your team of H&S advisors, leading, motivating and managing their performance, ensuring the business is supported in its vast array of high hazard operations.
We’re looking for you to support stakeholders at every level in delivering world class health and safety performance in their business areas, way beyond minimum legal compliance. We are also looking for you to partner with stakeholders ensuring that health and safety initiatives enhance and compliment the wider businesses strategy and performance. You’ll act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all health and safety obligations across NWG ensuring that technical information and legislative requirements are translated into the business in a practical and effective way.
You will work closely with the Head of HSS to develop strategic initiatives and embed the EHSED culture across NWG. Alongside peers you will review changing legislation, ACOPs and guidance, along with the development of policies and procedures, ensuring clear guidance for front-line employees.

In addition to developing strategic initiatives this role will be primarily centred on our Asset Management directorate, working with internal stakeholders and all contract partners including the LWE. The role is vital in guaranteeing third party working standards are always to the highest standards, including contractor monitoring and assurance and exceeding legal compliance, whilst ensuring our EHSED aspiration is embedded into every single company working on behalf of and in collaboration with NWG.
Alongside colleagues you will review changing legislation, ACOPs and guidance, along with the development of policies and procedures. You will lead a team of H&S advisors motivating and managing their performance, ensuring the business is supported in its high hazard construction operations.
