Job summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced clinical professional to join our team as a Specialist Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Nurse. In this role, you will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, providing expert support, advice, and education for patients living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with the Gastroenterology team on IBD clinical trials, offering your expertise to assist in the development of a specialist IBD service aimed at reducing unnecessary admissions, supporting in-patient care, and promoting early and effective discharge. As a key member of the team, you will serve as an expert clinical practitioner within the speciality, acting as both a clinical and professional resource to patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team. You will play a vital role in transitioning patients between child and adult care, serving as a dedicated key worker to ensure continuity of care. Additionally, you will take on an active role in educating both patients and staff, ensuring high standards of care and up-to-date knowledge in managing IBD. Main duties of the job Provide expert clinical practice within this speciality, assisting in the delivery of high quality Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) services throughout the Trust. Work alongside other clinical colleagues to provide expert care, treatment and support for this patient group. Contribute to advancing the body of knowledge through education, research and audit, as well as developing practice. Play a key role within the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure a seamless, co-ordinated and timely approach to care. Act as a clinical and professional resource to the multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers. Be the key worker to provide a link during transition between child and adult care. Assist in the development of a specialist inflammatory bowel disease service to prevent unnecessary admissions, support in-patient care and enhance early effective discharge. Contribute to the IBD infusion service by working closely with the infusion nurse team to support for advice and guidance including monitoring guidelines and protocols for this service in relation to IBD.
