Our Dermatology services are spread across two main sites, the Royal Blackburn and Burnley general hospital. Our treatment room service is situated on the dermatology department at the Burnley general hospital site
Treatment room operates Monday to Friday, 0730am – 18:00hrs.
The team occasionally need to cover Saturday and Sunday for waiting list initiation clinics with an 8:30am start and 17:00 finish.
There is opportunity to offer flexible working arrangements where services allow.
Deliver SAFE, PERSONAL and EFFECTIVE patient care on a daily basis.
Responsible for providing a range of support to help manage our specialist services within dermatology outpatient’s clinics, treatment room and minor skin surgery clinics when required.
To support the productive operation of the unit environment by undertaking a range of non-clinical activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.

Clinical.
¨ Maintain confidentiality at all times.
· Participate in the assessment of health care needs.
· Assist the RGN in the evaluation of care and completion of patient documents.
¨ Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and electronic records maintained.
¨ Involve patients and carers/relatives in the delivery of care.
¨ Provide reassurance support to patients and carers/family during the giving of “bad news” liaising with relevant personnel.
¨ Work collaboratively with others in the department to ensure that patients’ needs are met.
¨ Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
¨ Provide escort and transfer for patients, with low dependency, as directed.
¨ Prepare and set up clinics, including trays and trolleys, treatment and examination rooms.
¨ Having undertaken training, be competent at venepuncture,, skin scraping, nail clippings, recording blood glucose levels, basic dressings,
¨ Chaperone patients when required.
¨ During procedures, provide assistance to medical and nursing staff when requested.
Clerical
¨ Contribute to the development of services.
¨ Ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
¨ Liase closely with medical and nursing staff, and associated departments, to ensure that clinics are conducted effectively and efficiently.
¨ Ensure relevant reports and results are available for the consultation.
¨ Carry out pre/post-consultation clerical duties when directed, such as making follow-up appointments and arranging patient transport.
¨ Use Trust Cerner / IT system
¨ Answer the telephone, take messages and pass onto the appropriate person.
¨ Order medical and non-medical stock, maintaining a cost-effective approach.
¨ Ensure all equipment is in good working order, arranging repair when necessary.
¨ Ensure the tidiness and cleanliness of all clinical rooms, examination rooms, store cupboards and sub-waiting areas.
Clinical Governance.
¨ Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others.
¨ Report any concern regarding patient care.
¨ Participate in patient and public involvement activities.
¨ Support people’s equality, diversity and rights.
¨ Develop own skills and knowledge, and assist in the development of others. Act as a resource to less experienced HCA’s, and learners
¨ Work within limit of own competence and refer issues, procedures beyond these to Nurse in Charge and/or team members as appropriate.
¨ Attend mandatory training as directed
¨ Attend and participate in team meetings as directed.
