Pertemps are looking for a SMT Team Lead / Process Engineer to work for a long standing client in Hemel Hempstead. You will be responsible for managing the automatic surface mount technology (SMT) manufacturing line. The ideal candidate will have a CEM background. Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 Job Description Develop an overall understanding of the customer and product requirements, the strategy, goals and objectives for SMT Manufacturing Operations. Responsible for SMT equipment & staff duties. Responsible for SMT Utilization performance and Internal Defect Cost. Responsible for SMT Quick Changeover KPI TBA Responsible for SMT Materials inventory accuracy and Physical Inventory count. Responsible for PCBA rework activities. Develop and track monitoring systems relevant to the SMT Manufacturing Operations. Lead products quality, on time delivery and cost-reduction activities. Ensure goals are clear to all Manufacturing staffs and continuous improvement is being achieved. Identify SMT resource requirements to meet the needs of Production and customer/product requirement. Continually review industry SMT technology and SMT capabilities. Create teamwork environment, Direct Headcount forecast and control. Develop and motivate Production Team members to perform their full potential, providing direction and timely feedback for the benefit of Production function. Create an environment that is culturally embedded in a “Quality First” mentality. Work with all levels of the organization to improve quality, delivery and cost reduction activities to meet the set KPI. Instil a continuous improvement mentality in SMT Production. Foster good morale, a proactive and positive culture. Evaluate staff performance with goal setting in line with department goals. SMT Training Support Engineering Manger with Production Engineering for PCBA NPI Primary Role: - Manage the Setup and operators of the computer controlled SMT assembly line to fulfil the requirements of the Work Plan, ensuring maximum output and minimal quality issues. Plan daily / weekly SMT plan, update live schedule. Provide schedule for Programming of equipment Assist Production Engineering with second-line support. Conduct AOI and visual inspection to IPC610 standard, raising any quality issues with the relevant Manager Prepare internal Schedule maintenance plan Manger external services of all SMT machines. Complete scheduled Preventative Maintenance and cleaning. Document all work completed on the SMT process using the company ERP system. Ensuring Stocktaking SMT components as required. Secondary Roles: - General soldering skills, understanding the relevant IPC standards. Support Production Engineering with any issues that are part of the NPI process Accurately record/communicate company & product data to Company Quality Management System standards. Comply with all health and safety requirements as stipulated within standard operating procedures & company procedures. Involvement/participation in team projects & process improvement initiatives such as 5S/6S. Skills and Experience (Core): - Proven background in designing an SMT assembly line process. Understanding of Programming all SMT equipment. Experience of working within a medium volume electronics manufacturing environment. Using Microsoft Word, Excel or equivalent. Ability to read and interpret written work instructions & drawings, especially SMT layout diagrams. Knowledge and application of company procedures & product quality standards. Skills and Experience (Desirable): - IPC-A-610 ‘Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies’ Certified. IPC-J-STD-001 ‘Requirements for soldered electrical & electronic assemblies Certified. Experience in using a PC-based Engineering Resource Planning (ERP) stock system. Familiar with the use of basic test equipment such as digital multi-meters and PSU. Demonstrate skills in use of basic automatic test equipment (ATE).
