As the new Associate Ecologist, you'll lead and develop the Ecology function, handling a variety of projects across different sectors. Your work will cover a wide range of ecology services - from Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA) to projects in public, commercial, residential, transport, and energy sectors. You'll be involved in reporting, designing ecological mitigation plans, and coordinating with stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities
Be the main contact for Ecology within the team, driving client and partner relationships
Plan and manage ecological surveys, producing top-notch reports including habitat and species surveys
Deliver technical expertise on complex projects, on time and on budget
Support business growth through proposals, client management, and fee development
Manage and mentor an ecology team within a multi-disciplinary consultancy
Develop proposals to boost the profitability of our Ecology services
Help to build out and develop the Ecology function for the organisation
About you
Relevant BSc (an MSc in a related field is a bonus but not required)
Skilled in producing clear, high-quality deliverables
Highly organized, deadline-oriented, with strong knowledge of UK ecology legislation
Understanding of the UK planning system and how ecology fits into it
Experience in creating tailored proposals and managing project profitability
Full, clean UK driving license
Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CEnv or CEcol is a plus)
Protected species licences (particularly for bats, badgers, or other key species) are an advantage
