Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
We are currently looking for registered adult or paediatric nurses who have an interest in working within an emergency care environment. We are able to offer substantive posts for Registered Nurses who would like to work in our Emergency Department.
Main duties of the job
As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients stay healthy when they need it most.
About us
Stretching across Northern, Eastern and Mid Devon, we have a workforce of over 15,000 staff, making us the largest employer in Devon. Our core services cover more than 615,000 people across over 2,000 square miles, while some of our specialist services extend as far as Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
We deliver a wide range of emergency, specialist, and general medical services through North Devon District Hospital and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford).
Alongside our two acute hospitals, we provide integrated health and social care services across various settings, including community inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, and within people's own homes. We also offer primary care services, a range of specialist community services, and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC).
Our state-of-the-art equipment, leading technologies, and strong links to local universities enable us to provide world-class care to our local communities.
It has never been a more exciting time to join the Royal Devon, as you'll help to shape our services as we continue along our integration journey.
Job responsibilities
Our Emergency Department is a busy high-performing unit with nearly 100,000 attendances per year. We require skilled, dynamic, and enthusiastic registered Adult or Paediatric nurses with previous experience in an acute setting. In return for your drive and commitment, we will offer ongoing support and development to further your skill base.
The work and pace can be challenging, with plenty of opportunities to apply both organisational skills and expert clinical skills. We see all specialties including Paediatrics, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Medical, and Surgical. You will be expected to care for both Adults and Children in a mixed Emergency care setting, with full training and guidance provided.
We offer a tailored 2-week induction programme to equip you with the skills and knowledge to be successful in your role, along with protected supernumerary time for a minimum of 3 weeks to ensure your confidence in the new role.
The department has undergone rebuilding and redesign, and we have recently opened a bespoke children's area to cater to our young patients and their families. In addition, we have an 8-bedded resus, 2 of which are dedicated paediatric bays.
We are a friendly and diverse team that strives to deliver quality patient care. If you have recent experience as a registered nurse in an acute care environment, we would love to hear from you.
There will be an opportunity on the day for you to visit the departments and learn more about the work we do.
