About the role:
The recent growth of the business has highlighted the need to add further depth to the Commercial department. The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial support, maintain commercial information and ensure compliance with contractual requirements and the Company’s objectives.
* Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at project level.
* Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place.
* Update the monthly cost and commercial plans.
* Help ensure that internal commercial processes are adhered to across the business unit.
* Help ensure that any main contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are appropriate for Metropolitan with commercial risks identified.
* Ensure that the supply chain are engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions.
* Build and maintain good relationships with clients and subcontractors.
* Prepare applications for payment.
* Liaise with the client, client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims and additional payments.
* Contribute towards effective interaction between the Commercial Team and the operational site teams.
* Work with site management to forecast predicted spend and cash recovery and ensure that both are kept in line with target.
* Share best practice with others and be proactive in advising site teams on costs and management of them.
Requirements
* 2-3 year experience in a similar role.
* Quantity Surveying degree (desirable).
* Following 12 months of continuous employment, you are entitled to become a beneficiary of the Employee-Owned Trust (EOT) scheme.
