Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head to make a significant contribution to the school’s strategic development, and to the smooth day-to-day operation of the school as well as modelling outstanding teaching. The role is to assist the Head in formulating the aims and objectives of the school, establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved, managing staff and resources and monitoring progress towards their achievements. The role will be working alongside the Deputy Head of Pastoral and Logistics, operating as a team to support the Head.
As the Deputy Head of Academics the successful candidate will lead the continual review of the academic provision at the school, advising and assisting the Head in the organisation of scholarships, work alongside the Director of Studies in curriculum matters and examination organisation and oversee the academic assessment of children applying to the school and managing the examinations and administration of the process of children applying to secondary schools. This role will work with the Deputy Head of Pastoral and Logistics and the SENDCo on the SEND provision in the school.
They will act as Parent Liaison for all parents, work with the Head and HR on the recruitment and induction of new staff members, manage the staff appraisal process and oversee the work of all teaching Heads of Department. There will be up to 12 hours of teaching per week, with mathematics or ICT as preferable lead subjects.

What we are looking for
The ideal candidate for this role would have/be:
· QTS with significant experience and knowledge of education
· NPQSL or is working towards an NPQSL (desirable)
· Senior or middle leadership experience (required), as is a collaborative approach to work and a proven ability to motivate and support others. Experience as a Deputy Head would be desirable
· Good organisational and time management skills
· A demonstrable desire to continue to extend their knowledge and is committed to their own professional development
· Teaching experience across KS1 and KS2
· Mathematics or ICT as a lead subject (desirable)
· An ambitious and innovative teacher, dedicated to the success of their learners, with the desire to inspire pupils
· Someone who shows commitment, motivation and relentless drive for standards of excellence, creativity and continuous improvement in practice
· Excellent communication skills: ability to listen, empathise and understand needs of others
· The ability to influence and motivate others through a clearly communicated vision, inspiring trust
· The ability to clearly demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to promoting the welfare of young people - Level 2 Safeguarding DSL course (desirable)
· Able to work as part of a team and use your own initiative
· A fun, can do attitude and a willingness to meet challenges with enthusiasm and to contribute as a team member is essential
