Preparation of visuals to disseminate low carbon built environment research. The Welsh School of Architecture’s Centre for a Low Carbon Built Environment (CLCBE) is working with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council and Tai Tarian to retrofit two homes in Port Talbot. The CLCBE would like to recruit a student to support the dissemination activities by creating illustrations of the buildings showing the technologies and materials that have been applied. The successful applicant will be required to create visuals for two homes, including the creation of exploded drawings showing the assembly of the retrofitted solutions and how the components fit together.
Candidates must be:
1. Competent in using Sketchup software or similar for 3D modelling and rendering, preferably with VRay, Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop.
2. Able to demonstrate that they can create similar visuals to the example attached (download the 'Job Description' to view image).
3. Able to work as part of a busy research team to understand the retrofit works, create draft illustrations, and incorporate requested changes to the visuals.
4. Self-motivated and able to work remotely and unsupervised on the task.
5. Flexible to attend online team meetings to discuss progress, as required.
The role is available immediately and is for up to 70 hours of work, to be completed by 28 February 2025.
Role Requirements:
We welcome applications from ARCHI undergraduate (UG), postgraduate taught (PGT) students or postgraduate research (PGR) students who are eligible to work through Jobshop for the duration of the placement. The applicant can work to their availability to fit around study requirements, although our expectation is that the work must be complete by the end of February 2025. Appropriate software licences will be provided, if necessary.
