ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR-GENERAL NURSING POOL (Clinicals, A&P, Dosage Calculation)

HOURS: Maximum 29 hrs./wk.
DIRECT SUPERVISON FROM: Coordinator of Practical Nursing

SUMMARY
This is a General Nursing Pool position announcement seeking Adjunct Instructors to teach Clinical Nursing, Anatomy and Physiology, or Dosage Calculation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS for Clinical Nursing Applicants
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
2. Clinical Experience in Maternal, Pediatric, Mental Health, and/or Adult Health Nursing
3. Valid Driver’s License
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS for A&P or Dosage Calculation Applicants
4. Associate’s Degree in Nursing or an Associate of Science Degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
5. 3+ years of related work experience.
6. Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforce education and competency-based training preferred.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
7. Knowledge of the principles and practices of the industry and the ability to use the tools and equipment used in the occupation.
8. Knowledge of the principles and methods of good teaching and supervision as evidenced by a rating of education and experience.
9. Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs and other basic computer software and skills needed for the teaching profession.
10. Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and to move about the teaching area to demonstrate and perform all occupational duties, with or without accommodation.
11. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.
12. Strong interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; and excellent organizational and planning skills.
13. Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly, and to plan and direct the work of others, as evidenced by an interview and teaching presentation.
14. Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
15. Maintain a current knowledge of industry trends and technological advances in the industry.
16. Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment.
17. Develop lesson plans and deliver instruction accordingly.
18. Teach courses on campus or at clinical sites as assigned.
19. Utilize in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.
20. Utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.
21. Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students.
22. Teach worker ethics curriculum, interpersonal skills, post-secondary workforce skills, and soft skills within the standard industry framework.
23. Demonstrate a commitment to student success by providing guidance and advice to students regarding course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.
24. Coordinate all disciplinary issues with Coordinator of Practical Nursing.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
25. Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule.
26. Start and end class at designated time.
27. Perform student surveys each trimester.
28. Participate in regularly scheduled staff climate surveys.
29. Check and respond to emails twice daily.
30. Coordinate necessary absences with Coordinator of Practical Nursing and to coincide with student breaks.
31. Work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
32. Other duties as defined by administration.

HOURLY WAGE: $25 – 35 per hour, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
