Location: Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool
We are currently recruiting for a passionate Kitchen Assistant to join our wonderful Broadgreen Day Nursery and Preschool, situated in Liverpool on the grounds of the Broadgreen Hospital.
This 89 place nursery is proudly Ofsted rated ‘Good’, and offers excellent transport links including onsite parking and nearby bus stops for bus routes 7, 102, 204, and 239, and is a short walk from the Broadgreen Train Station.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Keep the kitchen in a clean and safe environment adhering to internal and external requirements
* Encourage and model behaviour which is appropriate in a child environment being professional at all times
* Ensure you meet the legal and company requirements for fire, safety, health & hygiene at all times and necessary paperwork is completed
* Support the preparation and cooking enough age-appropriate food for all the children on a daily basis with minimum wastage
* Take responsibility to make sure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the teams
* Respond appropriately to issues requiring confidentiality regarding personal information regarding children
* Support, promote and implement policies and procedures
* Fulfil roles, responsibilities and legislative duty in relation to safeguarding children by ensuring that Safeguarding Policies and Procedures are read, understood, and implemented
* Complete Child Protection training every two years as set out in the Child Protection Policy and ensure that this training impacts on the ability to safeguard the children in their care
* Work in cooperation and partnership with the Chef, Nursery team and parents to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet
* Support the Chef to ensure budgetary requirements are met
* Use nominated suppliers and ensure all deliveries are accurate and record keeping is kept up to date
* Support with other activities with the nursery events e.g. BBQ’s, Fetes, Staff meetings, children’s cookery clubs
* Take reasonable care of yourself and others and comply with company Health and Safety guidelines
* Support the Chef and manager to work as a team to ensure a good or better inspection outcome
* Understand the importance of keeping everyone safe and the part you play
* Demonstrate a proactive approach using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility with a can-do attitude
* In the absence of the Chef, be responsible for the safe running of the kitchen
Minimum Qualifications:
* Food Safety CIEH L2 or above or equivalent - this must be passed on day 1 in post

* Ability to communicate with both adults, children, and parents
* Ability to communicate clearly using a variety of techniques
* Ability to encourage team effort
