Do you have experience in costume maintenance and/or wardrobe support in a theatre environment? Do you work well within a busy team? Are you reliable?
We are looking for an experienced Wardrobe Technician (Grade 2) to work as part of the Running Wardrobe Team in all aspects of Running Wardrobe including costume maintenance, laundry, and performance calls.
Reporting to the Head of Running Wardrobe, key areas of responsibility include:
* Ensuring that costume requirements and dressing needs are met efficiently and flexibly.
* Assisting actors with their costumes in technical rehearsals and performances.
* Performing all pre-show costume and laundry checks, ensuring that costumes are correctly set in dressing rooms and quick-change areas.
* Dealing with emergency repairs to costumes during performances.
* Responding to and co-operating with the needs of the Running Wardrobe Department to create a positive and supportive environment.
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following knowledge and experience:
* A broad knowledge of costume and period.
* Experience in managing theatre costume needs for a range of artists.
* An understanding of Costume Maintenance and Costume-related disciplines.
* Organisational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
* Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
This role is a full-time position working 48 hours, 6 out of 7 days. It is offered as a fixed-term contract for 1 year and will be based in Stratford-Upon-Avon. This position is available at both the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Swan Theatre.
