Salary: £23,492 per annum, depending on experience, with overtime and weekend working possible during peak time.
Contract: Fixed term from 1 April 2025 to 30 August 2025
Working hours: Full time: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week (0800:1600)
Part time: Monday to Friday, hours/days negotiable
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking to recruit Field Trial Technicians to work in plant variety trials. The roles will involve sample collection, measuring plant characteristics in the field and via image analysis, and a range of other practical tasks. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in agricultural field crops/plot trials while developing professional skills in team working, time management, and practical problem solving.
The work can be physically demanding and will entail spending substantial periods working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Location
The role is based at NIAB Park Farm, Histon, Cambridge, CB24 9NZ, 4 miles from Cambridge city centre. There may be a requirement to work at off-site trials. Free on-site parking is available, and the location is linked by cycle ways and regular buses to Cambridge city centre and railway station. Close to Junction 32 of A14, with easy access to M11, A10, and A11.

ABOUT YOU
Essential requirements
Ideally, you have:
1. An interest in agriculture/plant sciences and a willingness to learn
2. A good eye for detail
3. The ability to follow strict protocols
4. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work as part of a team
Desirable requirements
Ideally, you will also have:
1. A driving licence or access to independent means of travelling, enabling you to travel to trial sites within a 20-minute radius. Transport can be provided.
