Housekeeping Assistant - YHA Manchester Housekeeping Team Member YHA Manchester Permanent, flexible contract Minimum 16 hours per week £11.44 per hour (This will rise to £12.21 in March in line with National Living Wage and applies to all, including those under the age of 21) YHA Manchester is looking for a Housekeeping Assistant to work a mix of days, including weekends on a permanent contract. Total number of hours per week will be a minimum of 16. However the reality will be a mix of 4-5 shifts a week totaling 16 or 20 hours. IMPORTANT: If you are a student looking to work around uni, or you have any other commitments, please only apply if you are able to work 10am to 2pm during week and 11am and 3pm on weekends, as these are the times we need people to work. We need someone who can work most weekends, although we rotate weekends off within the team. We are located in the historic Castlefield area of Manchester, in a lovely setting next to the canal. What will you be doing as a Housekeeping Team Member? We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including: Cleaning and preparing bedrooms between guest departures and arrivals Maintaining the cleanliness of shower and toilet areas Keeping all areas of the hostel clean and tidy Efficiently undertaking housekeeping tasks, maintaining consistent cleanliness standards throughout the hostel Complying with YHA requirements for the use and storage of cleaning products Reporting any faults or damage to a member of the hostel management team Sorting and distributing used and unused linen What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Housekeeping Team Member? Our Housekeeping Team Members undertake a wide range of customer facing duties within the hostel, delivering an excellent service to all guests and visitors. To provide this service to our guests we are looking for the following qualities in our Housekeeping Team Members: Experience of working face to face with customers Experience of working in hospitality or customer service (desirable) Experience of working in a team – can help others to achieve a common goal Excellent timekeeping, with flexibility to cover different shifts – punctual, can work to deadlines Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload demands – can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting duties Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) – able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA – what YHA does and how we do it It's important to note that the role can be physically demanding, as our beds are predominantly bunk bed style.
