Are you passionate about peatlands, with the skills and experience to make a difference?
We are seeking to recruit a peatlands Project Officer to work with our partners within the Humberhead Levels. The individual needs to have a ‘can do’ attitude, working with people to secure opportunities for large-scale nature recovery across the Lincolnshire peatlands within the Natural Character Area (NCA39) and working with their counterparts within Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.
Applicants should have a sound knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation in England, including the Environment Act, with a handle on the Government’s Environmental Improvement Plan. It will be critical to understand the role peatlands have to play in England achieving Net Zero, and how important it is to restore and enhance peatland sites through securing excellent water resource management for cultural, natural and historic heritage purposes. This will entail working with a suite of land managers, authorities and other bodies to deliver peatland restoration and monitoring in a lowland setting.
Experience in partnership working, advocacy and project management will be required, as well as excellent communication skills, a high level of commitment to nature’s recovery and a desire to achieve change. A relevant environmental qualification or equivalent working experience and a full current UK driving licence are also required.
This role is supported by The Nature for Climate Peatland Restoration Grant Scheme and the EU Life Moor Space funded project.
Please read all the attached documents for full details of the role, person specification and how to apply. CVs alone will not be accepted.
