Early Years Practitioner
Location: Alloa, FK10 1TD
Salary: Minimum real living wage or negotiable depending on experience
Hours: Full time posts or minimum 34 hours
The Role
To be involved in planning and implementing an appropriately balanced early years programme of activity encompassing the Curriculum for Excellence within the Pre-school room and the Pre-Birth to three Curriculum in the 0-3 rooms whilst providing a caring, safe and welcoming environment for children which will allow each child to develop at their own rate. Current national guidance and other relevant materials will guide planning.
Key Duties:
1. Observe, record and assess through interaction, the needs of individual children.
2. Implement the agreed curriculum plan by preparing and organising activities to enable children's learning through play and appropriate learning experiences.
3. Monitor and evaluate children's progress.
4. Implement and raise awareness of equality within the Nursery.
5. Promote Emotional, Personal and Social Development through good health, safety and caring practices.
6. Respond to the physical needs of children, e.g., toileting, nappy changing.
7. Provide appropriate learning experiences for children with additional support needs, relevant to the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
8. Implement child protection procedures and support children and families through crisis.
9. Participate in outings whilst adhering to health and safety guidelines.
10. Support and develop parental participation and relations with the community.
11. Be involved in the purchasing, utilising and maintaining of appropriate resources associated with delivering the Nursery's objectives.
12. Work co-operatively and effectively within a professional team whilst respecting each person's abilities and aptitudes.
13. Work collaboratively with other professionals from a variety of disciplines.
14. Contribute to staff meetings relating to all relevant and current topics.
15. Be a Positive Role Model.
You must be registered with the SSSC or an equivalent registered body and follow company policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
1. SCQF level 7.
2. Experience (Desirable but not essential, so can be newly qualified).
3. Must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
4. Knowledge of:
1. The individual development needs of young children.
2. The central role of parents/carers in the lives of young children and respect this role.
3. Local and National education and childcare provision and procedures.
