Job Description Credit Controller Department: Finance Reports to: Head of Finance Operations Date: November 2024 Purpose The Credit Controller is accountable for managing customer accounts, maintaining effective control in the collection of all income and revenue due to the Company from various sources and preparing a range of reports to support the wider Finance function and the Company. People & Resources Staff: No direct reports. Resources: No resource accountability. Key Responsibilities To control and collect revenues due to the Company within agreed timescales Resolving related queries as and when they arise, liaising with Sales team/ Account Managers where required Ensuring accuracy and completeness of data at all times, maintaining accurate and retrievable records for audit purposes & legal escalations. All communications recorded in SRP system To actively chase debt, liaising with customers by telephone and email to recover overdue debt up to the point of legal action in order to maintain/improve current debtor KPIs. Liaising with third party legal company in escalating debtors due to non payment, using their online portal Daily updates from third party credit company via their portal, to update Customer status and reports into SRP systems. Compiling reports and back-up information for invoices that are to be written off before requesting approval. Work with Credit control team to ensure all debt is chased in a timely manner Support AR team where required eg: cash posting, journal posting, to maintain clean AR ledger. Support the Finance team where required Provide updates when required for review by Head of Finance Operations Adhere to and assist in the maintenance and development of internal financial controls. To play an active role in the general development of the finance function systems and procedures and to always seek continuous improvement of systems and processes. Measures of Success Successful receipt of outstanding debt, within our credit terms whilst maintaining customer relationships and in line with targets Positive feedback on level of customer service to both internal and external customers and suppliers Accurate recording of all financial transactions within area of responsibility Queries resolved satisfactorily with required follow up/escalation undertaken Company and departmental procedures are followed Technical/Job Skills, Qualifications and Experience Experience of credit control procedures essential, including verbal and written communication with customers, Diligent, focused and professional approach to debt recovery essential. Ability to provide prompt dispute and query resolution whilst maintaining a high standard of customer service Excellent PC application skills, particularly MS Office applications including Excel and Word. Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of accountancy software. Discreet and confidential approach to financial matters and records. Experience within a finance department, preferably within a customer focused service organisation.
