Description
Summary
Reporting to the Director of Residence Life, the Resident Director will work to support the growth of Regis Students through engagement and community building efforts in the residence halls. The Resident Director is an 11-month, 35 hour/week live-in professional staff position that works to ensure a quality living environment conducive to the personal, social, and academic development of each student. This is a full-time, benefit eligible position.
Essential Functions
* Supervises 8-10 Resident Assistants (RA). Provide leadership and direction in a co-educational residence hall with between 200-300 undergraduate residents. Utilizing creative measures to create a sense of respect, community, and engagement within the hall.
* Responsible for policy enforcement and counseling/referral through active relationship building with residents
* Oversee general building administration/ facilities management of a multiple building area
* Serve in the professional on-call rotation system for a campus of 5 residence halls and approximately 800 undergraduate and graduate residents.
* Serve as student conduct hearing officer; Responsible for tracking individual cases and instituting best practices on sanctioning in order to enhance learning and student engagement.
* Implement area programming in accordance with departmental programming model through Resident Assistant Staff; Supervise area Resident Council and manage area budget
* Participate and engage in all professional and paraprofessional staff trainings
* Assist with collaborative efforts within the division including but not limited to collaborative and mission-driven university events
* Collaborate on secondary assignment area. Examples include Resident Council, RA Training, Student Leader Selection, RA Recognition, and student conduct management.
* Support the institutional strategic plan and implementation of the mission, including diversity initiatives
Other Responsibilities
* Provides leadership and oversight of a Student Affairs Special Project over summer
* Serves as a liaison between multiple campus offices
* Serves on committee membership as required
* Performs other related duties as required
Supervisory Responsibility
* Directly supervise an RA staff of 8-10 students
Qualifications
Requirements
* Masters in related field (Higher Education, Education Counseling, Social Work, etc), required.
* Previous residential and programming experience required.
* Excellent intrapersonal, organizational and administrative skills.
* Proven understanding of student development theory and practice
* Ability to uphold the University’s commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
* Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
* Occasional exposure to extreme noise at campus events.
* Requires occasional work outside during events.
* Use of computer keyboards, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
* Involves attendance at evening and weekend events and meetings
* This is a live-in position.
