Description An exciting opportunity exists to join the Commercial Food, Safety and Port Health Team at Cornwall Council. Responsible for delivering a wide range of Environmental Health functions; food hygiene, food standards, port health (at the numerous ports/harbours/marinas and Newquay Airport), food export controls, health and safety, infectious disease, Primary Authority, some environmental protection work (at Falmouth Docks), an exciting commercial agenda; it’s hard to imagine a more interesting, varied and exciting job On top of this you’ll be able to enjoy a good work-life balance in one of the most stunning Counties in the UK with its 422 miles of spectacular coastline. The role will involve a focus on delivering the Cornwall Export Service 2-3 days a week. This vital service supports the Cornish food industry to access the global marketplace. The Service delivers around 2000 Export Health Certificates a year and ensures food safety through our programme of Risk Based Inspections and consignment checks. The reminder of your time will be spent delivering the wider range of Environmental Health functions described above and/or developing experience/competence in a new area of work. Ideally, we’re looking to hear from Environmental Health Officers/Practitioners with food hygiene and/or port health experience. However, we would also welcome applications from those looking to gain experience in a new area of Environmental Health and also newly/nearly qualified Officers. This is a perfect role for those looking to get involved in a new area of work alongside an experienced, supportive and positive team. It is important that any person joining us is hardworking and a flexible team player. Foreign travel may be required from time to time so you should have a valid UK passport and be comfortable flying. Due to the nature of the work you will need to be physically fit, have a head for heights and be comfortable working from ships and other vessels.
