Job Description:
Contract Type: 1 x Permanent & 1 x Fixed Term Contract for 2 years
Fixed Term Contract Reason: Subject to funding
Secondment Opportunity: Permanent employees are encouraged to apply and will be supported as part of our workforce development commitment
Hours Per Week: 36 hours. All roles will include evening and weekend working (on a rota basis)

Be Well Tameside has an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Health Improvement Worker as part of a wider Public Health team.
The Role:
As a Health Improvement Worker, no two days are the same. Some days you will see people one-to-one, coaching them to make healthy changes, delivering health checks using point-of-care testing equipment (which can include finger prick blood testing), or stop smoking sessions. Other days, you will engage with people at busy events, facilitate workshops on health topics, or support public health projects.
We aim for our Borough's residents to stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible. We collaborate with individuals, professionals, and partners to improve health and reduce inequalities by making healthy choices accessible. We value high-quality, non-judgemental support and innovation within our team.
About you:
We are looking for candidates with:
* Experience in community work (paid or voluntary), ability to travel across the borough (including transporting equipment).
* Confidence in facilitating workshops (in person and virtually) and working one-on-one.
* Reliability, approachability, excellent communication skills, and flexibility (including occasional evenings or weekends).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in using computers and managing records on web-based systems.
* Highly organized, motivated, and resilient.
