The SQL Developer will actively contribute to the development and maintenance of Dealerweb’s SaaS products as a part of the existing Data team.
Covering the breadth of the UK, and across several European countries, our products are market leaders in the automotive sales space. With our customers asking more and more questions of the data we hold on their behalf, it's an opportunity to help refine and collaborate on systems and processes we need to adopt to keep pace with these ever-increasing demands.
You will participate in team refinement and planning sessions, whilst actively contributing to our philosophy of continual improvement.
You will work on product features, as well as maintaining and optimising our databases ensuring that they are fit for purpose, healthy and highly secure.
Key Responsibilities
* Mentoring junior members of the team
* Providing various data extracts from across our portfolio of products
* Scripting mass data imports and data archiving
* Writing and refining stored procedures
* Testing and modifying databases to ensure that they operate reliably
* Designing maintenance procedures and putting them into operation
* Tweaking and optimising SQL server settings for optimum performance
* Patching and updating servers
* Working with devOps to manage database security/integrity and backup procedures. Establishing robust server monitoring plans and implementing security measures as required
* Helping with database design and development, ensuring databases meet user requirements
* Liaising with Developers, Operational staff, IT project managers and other Technical team members
* Defining objectives through consultation with staff at all levels
* Writing reports, documentation and operating manuals
* Providing user training, support and feedback
Knowledge and Skills
* Experience of working within an environment focused on developing high availability web-services and web-based apps in a windows hosted environment
* At least three years of commercial experience as a SQL developer
* Strong experience managing and maintaining databases and servers
* Strong T-SQL Experience, including stored procedures
* Familiar with the use of source control (TFS/GIT)
* Experience of optimisation techniques to support highly transactional websites.
* Comfortable working with various versions of SQL databases, from SQL 2008 R2 to 2017
* An articulate programmer who understands the importance of delivering business value whilst maintaining data quality
Preferred Knowledge of:
* Experience of working within an Agile environment
* Experience of managing data migrations
