The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. This post leads on the management of information in the hub of an organisation that delivers military engineering training to over 10,000 trainees a year across multiple sites on over 230 different courses! With an understanding of the Armys management information systems and applications that hold data on both courses and trainees, coupled with your knowledge of the business objectives, we provide you the opportunity to think creatively to exploit this information to support business decisions. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week., You will be harnessing the information generated by the RSME Group to support decision-making and continuous improvement through organisational learning and effective communications. As the Group Senior Information Officer and Data Protection Advisor, you will lead on assuring the governance of information, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, as well as leading the integration of new applications and processes to support training delivery.
You will routinely be dealing with organisations across the Army, our delivery units and identify opportunities for improvement, as well as leading the delivery of business support services through management of a team of staff delivering an information hub.
Your main areas of responsibility will include:
+ Harnessing the information generated by the RSME Group to support decision-making and continuous improvement through organisational learning and effective communications.
+ As the Group Senior Information Officer and Data Protection Advisor, ensure adherence to Departmental policies and governance requirements, promoting effective information management of digital records structure and management information systems in use.
+ Identify and promote best information management practices including leading on the provision of training as necessary across the Group.
+ Use MOD/Army applications to improve access, presentation and the use of data to support decision making
+ Identify and engage with external organisations to support initiatives to upskill staff or deliver programmes of work where internal resources are not available
+ Provide training data to RSME Group to support governance and assurance
+ Support projects and branch leads with the provision of data required to deliver successful outcomes
